Galibi - French Guyana (Feb-Aug)
*Please note, you are advised to wear dark clothing (long sleeve shirt and pants are recommended) and avoid perfume and making noise while visiting the nesting site, as these can distract the turtles.*
Day 1
We depart Paramaribo by bus to the east of Suriname. After a short tour in Albina and a sanitary stop, we sail towards Galibi. We will spend the night in Christiaankondre, an Indian village near Galibi. There will be lunch and then a walk through the Make area. Around 8 pm, you will travel, accompanied by your guide, to the laying place of the turtles.
The sea turtles have swum tens of thousands of kilometres to be here after sunset finally,
make a nest and shed their eggs.
Day 2
After breakfast, there is still time to visit a souvenir shop. Then we leave for French Guyana to take a short walk through St. Laurent. After that, you can take a guided tour on your own at the prison museum. After this, we depart for Albina, enjoy lunch by the river, and then leave for Paramaribo.
